1-Star (Wish I Could Give 0) – Deceptive Billing & Unauthorized Charges

I canceled my subscription two months ago, yet I’m still being charged
325/ month. When I signed up I picked the 39/month Business plan, but the platform automatically enabled a hidden "Volume Upgrade" option—something I never noticed or consented to. Because of this deceptive practice, I was charged over $300/month for four months before realizing what happened.

Even after canceling, the charges continue. This is predatory behavior—shame on this company for exploiting customers with sneaky auto-upgrades and ignored cancellations.

I’ve already taken action by:

Reporting to the BBB (Better Business Bureau)

Disputing all charges with American Express

Filing complaints with relevant consumer protection agencies

We're really sorry to hear about your experience and completely understand how frustrating this situation must feel.

We want to clarify that our Auto-Upgrade feature is not enabled by default— it must be manually activated. It's designed to ensure your website stays fully translated even if your word count exceeds the plan limit, and we make this clear during setup and in our documentation.
That said, we understand it can sometimes be overlooked, and we're always happy to review it and check further with our customers to see exactly what happened.

Regarding the ongoing charges, it appears that your subscription was not fully canceled, which is why billing continued.
Canceling on Shopify or uninstalling the app doesn't automatically cancel your subscription with Weglot, as billing is handled separately.

In any case, note that we processed the refund of the related charges for you.

It's the worst app I've used. The website loads with no texts, then all the text appears after 3-4 seconds.

Also, I deleted the app and since I have to change my DNS a records for this tool, now my website is not working at all...

I never saw an app with a worst setup and execution. And for $32, is a rip off.

Terrible app. You manually translate content on their platform, but the changes never reflect in your store. Their support team constantly tries to shift the blame, claiming it's an issue with Shopify or other apps, but never their fault. Truly disappointing.

WEBSITE DELETED!! DONT USE THIS! I deleted the Weglot app on my 8-figure store and my ENTIRE WEBSITE was deleted. I lost over $100K+ because of this APP. DON'T USE THIS APP! WEGLOT WILL DELETE YOUR WEBSITE

It seems that Weglot deleted only the project in your Weglot account. This doesn't affect your website, only the translation.

Indeed, after three months of complete inactivity with Weglot, i.e. without any API request to Weglot, the project is automatically soft-deleted as you can see in our terms by following the link below
https://www.weglot.com/terms

I've restored the project, and all your translations are findable in your project.
I've also sent you, in an email, a backup of all the translations present in your project.

Ils te font encore payer même quand tu désinstalle l'appli. Je ne sait même pas comment arrêter la domiciliation...Appli pas terrible en plus de ça.

L'abonnement ainsi que la résiliation de l'abonnement ne s'effectuant pas au sein de l'app dans Shopify, cela necessite une action complémentaire au sein du Dashboard Weglot.
Vous avez normalement été notifié de cela.

Je constate que vous aviez désinstallé l'application depuis quelques mois et dans la mesure ou vous n'avez pas utilisé Weglot depuis cette date, il est normal de ne pas payer pour le service.
J'ai procédé remboursement de ces mois et une preuve vous a été partagée par email.

Je reste à votre disposition pour tout renseignement complémentaire et vous souhaite une excellente journée.

About the leftover code, note that now Weglot is able to remove all its code related to the Shopify API automatically.
For older integrations, a manual action can be required, and you'll find the process in the documentation below

Does not translate the checkout page anymore since Shopify rolled out the One page checkout. Did not even bother notify the customers about it. No solutions found, team useless. Now the checkout page displays in French for all our worldwide customers. Great !
